Religion is like the old Telephone Game....
Someone whispers the truth in one person's ear and by the time its been re-shared over thousands of years it doesn't represent the original message or intent at all.
Religion failed not because it offered hope, but because it often placed that hope entirely beyond the human realm, thus diverting our collective will from the urgent, terrestrial task of building a just and compassionate world right here, right now.
The religion claimed divine perfection but ultimately collapsed under the human imperfection of its followers.
A true poet aims for the heart.
Do not cast out those who share your blood, for their imperfections are but reflections of the divine struggle within your own soul. As for the bitter draught of intoxication and the shadowy morsels that poison the vessel of being, seek to banish them entirely.
The true solution to a struggling relationship is to wait for your partner to completely change into the person you always wanted them to be.
Man did not discover God; he invented Him, in the fearful shadows of his own ignorance, to command the obedience he could not earn.
When the delicate chalice of connection has fallen and shattered upon the hard stone of misunderstanding, do not spend your precious moments weeping over the fragments, nor seeking the elusive wisdom in the void. Instead, gather the largest pieces. Find a high-quality, clear-drying adhesive designed for ceramics. Apply liberally, hold firmly for sixty seconds.
The wound is where the light enters. But if the wound is a gaping chasm of unresolved issues and passive aggression, do not simply wait for the light. Gently, but firmly, change your locks. Locks are quite symbolic of a fresh start... for you.
The grand failure of religion was not in its promises of an afterlife, but in its absolute refusal to let us live this one freely, to confront our own absurdities without the comfort of inherited chains.
As the old wanderer often mumbled, The gates of Eden are always open, but few bother to look.
If religion's purpose was to unite humanity, it failed spectacularly. It built more fences than bridges, turning divine love into an excuse for earthly hatred and proving that piety often breeds the greatest cruelty.
When the telescope displaced the miracle, and the microscope unveiled the invisible, faith didn't evaporate; it merely retreated into the ever-shrinking pockets of human ignorance, proving itself a symptom, not a cure, for our fear of the unknown.
